What we need support for
The Agios Andreas Association would like to promote the long-term commitment of volunteers. To do so, we need the support of many friends and supporters of this work. The purpose of this website is to provide comprehensive information about the work on site. The association's funds are intended to provide pocket money for two to four volunteers. We also need funds for language lessons and the supervision of a local psychologist for all four volunteers currently working on the island, as well as some tokens of appreciation and recognition for their work. In addition, funds are always needed for furnishings in the homes or for special toys suitable for severely disabled children. Horseback riding therapy for severely disabled children is intended to help mobilize them and stabilize their new mobility. The staff in the homes can be supported through further training. This will directly benefit the children. The association also intends to support this. The association intends to provide financial support to local helpers for the Agios Andreas children's home who would like to volunteer but lack the means to travel there once a week. We also need to finance the operation of our website from association funds. Finally, you can also help through personal involvement by spending a few weeks on Rhodes and donating your time to the children at the Agios Andreas home. This is especially necessary in August, when there are no volunteers on the island. You can contact Monika for more information. For this work, you need a German health certificate and—if you don't come from a German care facility—a police clearance certificate. As you can see, diverse help is possible and necessary.
We very much hope that advice and experiences from others will help us further develop our work on site.
